DEEP BLUE PROJECT –small biography

An astonishing Atlantic island surrounded by the most beautiful deep blue sea, gave birth to us four friends. Growing up together, in more than one way, music was always listened and felt as special moments and it was just a question of time until we get our hands into a guitar, a piano, a bass guitar and a drum kit. From that moment on, whenever we got together we just played long and random improvisations that were pushed by the feeling of the moment and our own moods. Some lyrics came along. Some for a specific piece, others are still waiting for the right tunes...

Never playing anyone else ́s music, never thinking of a band name or caring about the songs’ names we just focused on the music and on enjoying every moment. No recordings, no audience. As time went by, we realize that our technique had evolved and that those early improvisations got better and somewhere along the way, we realized that these special moments were memories in the making and were worth preserving for our future enjoyment. So, back in 2005 a few songs were recorded and shared with a couple of friends and close family. And that was it. For the next almost 7 years we kept playing as often as we could although not as often as we wished. Then came a new record session in 2012. New songs, new lyrics, but the camaraderie (fellowship) between us was the same as if it was sixteen years prior. At that point, we finally needed a name: Deep Blue Project. An allusion to the unique blue sea of our island and our bluesy influences. And of course, a project for a life time... Back then, it only seemed natural to show case our music and we did it via social media. The feedback was great and this was it. This was the start of a new special moment for us. We stopped playing just for us and began producing with the intent to share! We wrote, we edited, we mixed, we captured images and correlated them to our music until we were ready to share our work not only through the social media. So, the urge to makea live presentation started to grow and on October 25th, at Arco8 Gallery, in the heart of the Island, Deep Blue Project played live for about an hour to everyone that was present. A simple but much appreciated moment that was lived, as all the rehearsals and recordings, with much enthusiasm.

Now, in late 2014, the will to make new records and new live shows carries on. We thank you for your time reading this lines but most of all we hope that you enjoy listening to our music as we do.
